As most people know (and as I mentioned in earlier post), Egypt is located in the most North East of Africa. This location gave the country some characheristics - even it has an effect on its history.
Being in a central location in old world, gave Egypt the opportunity to connect with other civilizations, and thus to be a goal for differnt occupators. Through the course of the long history of the Egyptian history, long times of occupations are documented.
Nowadays, location of Egypt is still making its contribution to how the life and the characteristics of Egypt look like. Being a most populated country in North Africa, Arab countries and the Middle East is partly due to the location and partly due to its old history (while location was one of the most encouraging reasons for inhabiting this area long time ago). Egypt''s high population (among other things) contributed and still contributing in policy making processes in North Africa and Middle East region (Arabia region included).
Additionally, located in Africa, Egypt has its relation and influence in how things work in Africa. Although the influence and the relation with African countries flactuates sometims, it has been always part of Egyptian interest. Egypt is the third most populated in Africa (only after Nigeria and Etheopia) and many Egyptian public and private companies have businesses in Africa - and they make a good profit there. And for many African muslims, Al Azhar university on Cairo is the first choice for religious studies. However, there have been always debates on the need to increase the amount of cooperation with African countries.
Finally, Egypt coast in the north and the Suez Canal are vital ports and routes in international trade, which gave some benefits to Egypt, financially and sometimes socially. As some European used to live in Egypt before some changes in Nasser's Era in 1960s, especially in Northern coast for trade among other reasons.
